WhatsApp and Device Acknowledgement
Version 1.0 · Last updated 2026-10-13
1. How WhatsApp is connected
The assistant uses a dedicated WhatsApp number linked as a "linked device" (by scanning a QR code). This is not an official WhatsApp Business API connection. WhatsApp may restrict or ban numbers at its discretion.
2. The number and SIM
The customer supplies a spare SIM for the assistant's WhatsApp number. The SIM must be RICA-registered in the customer's or the customer's company's name (any network; prepaid is fine). WorkForge does not supply SIM cards. The assistant always uses this separate number, never the customer's personal WhatsApp, so the customer's own account is not put at risk.
3. The phone
The WhatsApp account needs a phone with the SIM. Either (a) the customer keeps the phone, keeps it charged and switched on at least once every 14 days, and does not log out of WhatsApp; or (b) device custody add-on (R99 a month): we keep the customer's spare phone safe and connected for them.
4. If a number is blocked
We reconnect the assistant on a replacement RICA-registered number provided by the customer, aiming for the same business day; email remains available as a backup channel throughout. A blocked number is not a breach by WorkForge.
5. Responsible use
The assistant talks only to authorised users and approved contacts and never sends bulk messages, which reduces the risk of a block.
6. Changes by WhatsApp
If WhatsApp changes its rules so that this connection is no longer possible, we will offer the nearest available alternative (for example another messaging channel) and the customer may cancel without a notice period.
